I was given a 6 month leave without pay due to the impact of covid-19. Can a company legally do this especially with no pay?

A temporary period of lay off without pay can go up to 90 days according to the law in Trinidad and Tobago. If the period of lay off has just started, closer to the end of the 90 days, engage the company and ask them what their plans are for you.
